Railway Budget 2012-13 - Share for Kerala


The 2012-13 Railway Budget has come as a huge disappointment for the people of Kerala.Only Three  new trains which included two memu trains  and a weekly train was keralas train in 75 new express and 28 new passenger and 8 new memu services announced in 2012 Railway Budget presented by Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi.

 Palakkad – Coimbatore – Erode section 


 Eranakulam - Thrissur section
 weekly train


Yesvantpur - Kochuveli Weekly Express Train


plus another between Chennai - Mangalore


Other Announcements

* A coaching terminal would be started at Kottayam. 


* Palakkad - Mangalore Express would be extended to Coimbatore. 

* Trivandrum - Mangalore express would be extended till Nagercoil. 

* Nizamuddin - Kanyakumari Express would be made bi-weekly. 

* The stretch between Edamon - Shenkottai and Pollachi – Palakkad would be converted to broad gauge by this year. 

* Survey would be made for Angadipuram – Ottapalam line and Kollankodu - Thrissur line. 

* Permission has been granted for Sabarimala – Chenganoor line. 

* Banagalore – Kochuveli Express would be converted into a daily train.

* Survey would be made for the track doubling between Trivandrum - Kanyakumari, which is expected to be commissioned by next year. 

* Cherthala Wagon Factory would be implemented with private partnership. 

* Rail Coach factory would be established in Palakkad with support from government. 

* Two new passenger terminals have been allocated for the state.
