The present Special Secretary and financial adviser to the Union Ministry of Steel, E.K.Bharath Bhushan will be appointed as the state's Chief Secretary. The decision was arrived at a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
Bharath Bhushan will succeed the present Chief Secretary of Kerala K.Jose Syriac, whose tenure in the post expires on April 30. An IAS officer of 1979 batch, Bharath Bhushan will be able to continue in the post till January 31, 2015.
As Director General of Civil Aviation, Bharath Bhushan had adopted several cleansing measures in the department as well as in the ministry; expelling pilots with fake license being one among them.
Bharath Bhushan has also served as Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. He is the son of former District Judge Kunjiraman Vaidyar of Edodi, Kozhikode. It was during his term as the collector in Malappuram that Karipur airport had come into being.
