How To Be Safe From Online Frauds

Fraud is a term used to describe the situation in which some person or business uses your personal information in a manner which you did not permit them to. These days there is much online activity happening and many business transactions of things we buy over the internet expose sensitive information and we need to make sure that this is done cautiously and in a safe manner. To make sure you are safe while interacting with people through the internet you can take 5 simple measures.

1. Don’t give your password to anyone
This is something we have all been told but everyone doesn’t seem to see the importance. Giving out your password even to a friend or someone who wouldn’t harm you can be dangerous. However if you do happen to give it out change it as soon as you can.
The reason is that even though that individual may not have any intention to harm you can never control or always which sort of a computer they are using when signing in to your account. If there is key logger active on the computer they use your account information through, someone can get access to your account. Do things through your account and even sift through financial records.
2. Anti-virus software
A good antivirus is critical for your computers wellbeing and your online safety. Though its no good having an out of date antivirus therefore it is of even more importance to make sure your antivirus is continually updated and matches the latest releases. Hackers and those trying to break in to your account are always at work you need an antivirus that is updated with latest developments. AVG is great choice for antivirus. And it’s free.
3. Don’t open emails from people you don’t know
Emails are a gateway and source for viruses to enter your computer. More so opening mails from people you don’t know would usually provide you with a link of a site you frequently use or is reasonably familiar. That is not the real site but a phishing site. Phishing sites are those which are fake versions of real sites and you are required to login or update account information and in doing so you hand your information over to the people that were looking for it. Generally such emails are known to have foreign origins coming from countries such as Russia and India, and nearly all of them are waiting on you to click on that email to make their way in.
4. Don’t leave your full name after your comment
Your full name is important information and can be used to trace it all the way back to your account and its information. Even posting pictures of your self can be dangerous as that same picture can be used for a fake ID.
 5. Use online storage
Rather than keeping copies on your machine use an online backup storage company like Mozy or Livedrivethat way if your computer does get stolen or damaged you can still access your information and its much easier to get back up and running again.
With these simple steps you can insure greater safety for your information and money.
