WELFARE SCHEMES FOR WOMEN
A number of welfare schemes for women have been undertaken by the Government of India. The details of such schemes under implementation by Ministry of Women and Child Development are as under:
i. RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL CRECHE SCHEME FOR THE CHILDREN OF WORKING MOTHERS(RGNCS) provides day care facilities to the children in the age group 0-6 years from families with monthly income of less than 12000/-. In addition to being a safe space for the children, the crèches provide services such as supplementary nutrition, pre-school education and emergency health care, etc.
ii. CENTRAL SOCIAL WELFARE BOARD : The main women welfare Related schemes and programmes being implemented by CSWB are as under:-
25% OUTSIDER RECTT. TO BE DROPPED
AS PER THE STRIKE AGREEMENT, THE 25% OUTSIDER RECTT AMENDED IN POSTMAN/MTS RECTT RULES IS NOW PROPOSED FOR REVISION. BASED ON THAT DIRECTORATE HAS ISSUED ORDERS FOR POSTPONEMENT OF POSTMAN / MAIL GUARD EXAMINATION AND DIRECT RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION FOR MULTI TASKING STAFF (MTS) SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON 20.05.2012 INDEFINITELY,
SINCE THE RECRUITMENT RULES FOR THE POSTS OF POSTMAN/MAIL GUARD AND MULTI TASKING STAFF ARE UNDER REVISION.

THE TALLEST MAIL BOX IN THE WORLD
The tallest Mail Box in the world was established by Mr. Sanguan Jirajinda, Mayor of a small town called Betong in Thailand in 1924. It was made of reinforced concrete and was approximately 3 metres tall. Sanguan, who was a former postman built it at the age of 80 to be a symbol of communication of Betong and installed a radio broadcast on the top of the mail box for people to listen official news. The mail box is still in use.

Coffee’s Anti-Cancer

WASHINGTON: Coffee has been shown to reduce the risk of skin cancer by helping kill off damaged cells that could otherwise turn into tumors, according to a US study published on Monday.
The findings indicate that moderate caffeine drinking, or perhaps even applying coffee to the skin, could be useful in warding off non-melanoma cancer, the most commonly diagnosed of all skin cancers.
