National Energy Conservation Day is observed in India on 14th December.
India has an act in this area - The Energy Conservation Act 2001.
The Energy Conservation Act 2001 is implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a statutory body under Government of India. The act envisages creation of cadre of professionally qualified energy managers and auditors with expertise in energy management, project management, financing and implementation of energy efficiency projects, as well as policy analysis.
The Energy Management Centre and Japanese Cultural and Information Centre are jointly organising various programmes here on December 14 to mark National Energy Conservation Day.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is scheduled to inaugurate a two-day international seminar on ‘Energy Secure India: Options and Strategies,’ to be held in this connection. He will also distribute the Kerala State Energy Conservation awards. Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed with preside over the
function.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal will inaugurate a seminar on renewable energy on the 15th. Experts from India and abroad are expected to participate, a press note issued here on Sunday said.
